The Checkered Career of Mrs. Dille-McCoy

I can honestly say that my life has not been "Straight ahead, steady as she goes!" I began life as World War II was ending and moved to Tacoma, Washington, at the tender age of three.

The Dominican Sisters must take credit, for good or for ill, regarding the first twelve years of my education.

Where the Sisters left off the Jesuits took over, providing me with my collegiate career at Seattle University. They bestowed upon me a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Elementary teaching credentials.

I was privileged to begin my teaching career at parochial schools on Mercer Island and in Seattle. After teaching for six years I followed my urge to obtain a Master of Arts degree in theology.

To finance this portion of my education, I worked as a district advisor for the Seattle Times.

The degree in Theology was completed at the University of Toronto, University of St. Michael's College. Thus, I entered a ten-year period as a health care ethicist working with hospitals to form ethics committees. Marriage and the need for a stable income led me back to the field of education.

I was singularly blessed when a junior high position opened at Visitation School for which I was accepted. This is my thirteenth year teaching at Visitation. I am pleased to have found such a stimulating and rewarding environment in which to teach the language arts, social studies, and religion, the subjects I love.
