Hello, my name is Ann Bowen. I have been involved in education for 18 years. I graduated from St. Placid High School in Lacey, WA in 1985. St. Placid High School was an all-girl school which was operated by the Benedictine Sisters.
I continued my education at Pierce College in Steilacoom. I also played basketball there for two years. In fact, I still hold the record for most points scored in a game with 42, and will be inducted into the Pierce College Hall of Fame in November.
After receiving my Associates in Arts and Science degree from Pierce College, I moved on to Central Washington University in Ellensburg, where I majored in education and minored in reading. I also played on the women's basketball team for two years. I graduated from Central Washington with a Bachelor's degree in Education.
Upon graduation in 1991 I began my teaching career in Port Orchard. I started out as a substitute and then taught a 5th - 6th grade split. After teaching in Port Orchard for five years, I then began teaching at Visitation. I taught 3rd grade for four years and I am currently in my 10th year teaching 6th grade.
My hobbies include watching college football and basketball, reading, camping, and spending time with my nieces and nephews, and sisters.
