Dear Parents,
Thank you for bringing your child to Visitation for Mass and the Baptism of David. They were all so good in church and enjoyed watching the baptism. We want to thank Mrs. Harburg-Petrich, Kndg. teacher, for letting us visit her classroom and participate in some of the activities. The children had a very enjoyable day.
I appreciate your efforts in getting your child to school on time. It makes such a difference in how our morning gets started, less distractions and interruptions. Also, please send a backpack and a jacket with your child. We have so many things to send home and it is just easier to put them in the backpack. It is still very chilly in the mornings and your child does need a coat or jacket. Thank you.
If you have an old phone or cell phone at home and have no need for it, our children love to have phones in the homemaking area, also we could use a few small receiving blankets for our dolls. If you happen to see some small riding toys at garage sales, or if you have one you are not using, we could use some of these for our outside play. The children love playing with the riding toys during recess. Thank you.
We are finishing up our lesson on spring bugs and have had fun making and learning about bees, ladybugs, caterpillars and the beautiful butterfly. We studied the life cycle of the ladybug and the caterpillar and the children found this very exciting especially when all the songs and action poems were added to the lesson. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the book, “The Hungry Caterpillar.” Painting is always so much fun and the children's painted butterflies turned out so beautifully. Come in and check out all the art work they have done. Also, the children are doing so well in learning their prayers that I would like for them to continue to pray them during the summer months. I am sending home a page with the basic prayers they are learning and need to know for next year.
This month we will be learning the letters “Y” and “Z”. We will continue to work on the numbers from 1 to 20 and review all the colors and shapes. The children are having fun learning the numbers 1 to 10 and the color names in Spanish. ( I am also learning the colors, thank heavens for my Spanish speaking children!!) We will have a few more cooking lessons this month and several field trips. What an exciting month. Then a short week in June and we will be graduating. This year has gone by so quickly. The saying, “Times Flies When You're Having Fun,” is so very true.
We will be completing the Safety Lessons next week. The children have been very receptive and have much to add to our discussions on safety. I'm sure you have heard how important it is to wear your seatbelt, don't play with matches, and stop, drop and roll. We will finish the lessons with personal safety. Again, if you have any questions, please ask me.
We have a very busy month ahead, so please keep this for future reference. You will also be getting short notes home detailing some of our activities.
